The firmament is a solid structure that contains seven layers, holding the things we see above, it is not infinite like NASA tells us, and we are not tumbling through infinite space. We are literally on a foundation, with a dome encapsulating us and six other layers above it. These layers don't necessarily have to be domes; perhaps the one encapsulating us is, while the others are flat layers above it.
